AudioDharma includes teachings given at our two centers, Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City and Insight Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, and related locations. This site contains audio recordings and some videos of meditation instruction, Buddhist teachings and related topics. Most recordings are available a few minutes to a few hours after the teaching is offered.

Our teachings can also be accessed via the AudioDharma app, podcasts, and livestream

Talks are also available on mobile devices through our AudioDharma app. The app provides features such as the ability to create custom albums, adding notes to the talks, and seeing lists of the most popular talks.

IMC provides these talks and videos directly on this site, usually within minutes after a teaching has been given.

Types of offerings to support your practice in different times and circumstances

Dharma talks (30-45 minutes)

Dharma talks are explorations of meditation practice or Buddhist themes. You can find Dharma talks by the speaker, by date, venu, or title by clicking on the " filter talks by" button by the search bar.

Dharmettes (12-15 minutes)

AudioDharma includes short "Dharmettes," suitable for a break in your day or to introduce or complete a meditation session. Most Dharmettes are given in conjunction with Practice Notes (brief practice instructions) or guided meditations.

Path Fundamentals is a recommended sequence for learning many essentials

Path Fundamentals is a recommended sequence for learning many essentials of mindfulness, insight meditation, and Buddhist teachings and practice. They have been selected from the talks archived on this site. It’s appropriate for users of all levels of practice.

Guided Meditations (20-30 minutes)

Guided meditations can be enjoyed with the Dharma talks or Dharmettes offered during the same session (on the same date). You can also use them on their own to support your meditation practice.

Meditation classes are a great way to start or deepen your meditation practice

Our two most popular meditation classes, Introduction to Meditation and Intermediate Meditation, are important steps within our recommended Path Fundamentals. Videos of Gil Fronsdal’s recent Introduction to Meditation classes are also available under "videos" on the side navigation bar.

Retreat talks are a good support for deepening your formal practice

Retreat talks are a good support for deepening your formal practice, especially when you have more time to meditate. Retreat talks are available on this site, in the AudioDharma App, or through the Insight Retreat Center site. Some retreat offerings are available only to participants and require a code.

Transcriptions and voice-with-text pages

Some talks include volunteer-edited transcriptions, as well as less accurate automated voice-with-text pages recorded by Otter.ai. Both offerings support readers, as well as hearing-impaired and learners of the English language. You can find these talks easily by filtering on "Transcription" or "Voice/Text" in the "Filter Talks by" section of our search function. They are also recognizable by their icons:

Search

Search is located on the top navigation of the screen. The textbox allows searching by talk name, speaker name and description of talk by typing your query and clicking the magnifying glass. The advanced search (accessed by clicking "Filter talks by" to the right side of search) allows further filtering by a number of criteria including language, date range, and duration.

Videos

Some of the teachings on AudioDharma are available as videos. These teachings have a video icon associated with them. Links to video galleries of some regularly scheduled teachings and classes are under the resources section of AudioDharma’s side navigation bar. These videos are also housed on IMC’s YouTube channel, and IRC video teachings are available on the IRC YouTube channel.

The talks are freely available to download or listen. For sharing them, copying and redistributing our material, please follow the guidelines of our Creative Commons license:
