David Lorey

David Lorey

David Lorey began meditating as a teenager in the 1970s and then in college began an intensive practice in transcendental meditation. He was introduced to the Buddhadharma in the early 2000s. Daily sitting and walking meditation, with a focus on integrating tranquility and insight practices, form the core of his practice. David also enjoys studying the early teachings embedded in the textual tradition of the Pali canon for insights into living in accord with the Dharma. Sharing the Dharma through teaching, mentoring, and community service, David is committed to helping others discover their own unique ways of using meditation and Dharma study to find release from stress and suffering. He co-led the Tower Meditation Sangha for 10 years and leads a mindfulness meditation group at his local VA for veterans living with PTSD. David has participated in five years of training under the supervision of Gil Fronsdal and Andrea Fella at IMC, including the inaugural DMTP and LDL cohorts; he completed the Sati Center’s Buddhist Chaplaincy Training Program in 2021. Currently, he is in the four-year IMC teacher-training program. In addition, he occasionally teaches and co-leads retreats in Spanish. Gil Fronsdal is David’s guiding teacher.
